Eclectica

I haven't had enough time to expand my site out into enough categories to encompass these links, so this is the dumping ground.  I keep them, cause the divert me from productive work.

The Real Goo

Release 1.0 - If you are in the technology industry and you have not heard of Esther Dyson, I'm sure you probably don't care about where technology is headed.  If you want to reduce the number of times you get caught off guard, subscribe to Release 1.0.  Check out here new book called release 2.0, which is about ethics on the information superhighway.

Nanotechnology - Catch up on some of the  stuff that's going to make your grandchildren's lives either a lot better than yours or will move them away from being human.  Probably both. Well, probably neither. The rare air up there.

Wearable Computing - Some day I'm gonna be a cyborg.  I hate calculating those integral equations, asking my book-keeper how things are going, or feeling like an idiot when someone gets cute and uses something I don't remember writing against me. I get nervous when I'm away from a computer for more than a couple of hours unless I have a horse under me. Hey, I might even remember birthdays.

Complex Systems - This link is for me.  You might like.  Quarks and Jaguars, baby!

Artificial Life - AL has been around for a while now, and well, it's more than virtual pets.

Godel, Escher, Bach - This book is a bit dated now, but it won the Pulitzer Prize. It's safe to say it change my life.

Archimedes - He was smarter than you. Ok, Mr. Gell-Mann, you and Mr. Witten may have a point, but the rest of you, get back in line.

Novell Netware hacking programs - If I have to explain this, did you get here yourself?

Hype Goo

lotek - Highly kewl page with hacker nasties.  If you haven't heard of Back Orifice, well, I hope you don't have it yet.

Mondo 2000 - the guys at Mondo2000 really love the bleeding edge.  I don't think they like the way things are at all.  As soon as they get their way, which means we're all deconstructing, psychedelic cyborgs having virtual sex in virtual reality with virtually anyone at virtually virtually the speed of light (because there are so many artificial life forms and so little time), the will become dissatisfied and head back to wetware and meat in search of Nirvana.  Oh, did I mention I find their views relatively tame?

Mirrorshades Conference - Cyberpunk subculture is every bit as developed as the Inside the Beltway or Star Trek neophyte culture. Cruise some of the links on this page.  It'll help you when little Janey starts dressing in black and starts talking about the coming Snow Crash.

Net-Tribes - Cyberculture on the web... - Another cyberpunk subculture site, with very nice graphics and a lot of weird ideas for bean counters and pharmacists of all ages.

Neuro Connection - Bet Zsa-Zsa never had a makeover like this. This is more like a do-over.

Hack - Good Hackin.

Survival Research Laboratories . - Make you appliances and military hardware sing and dance, utility is the soul of banality.

Cyberpunk Authority - What is Cyberpunk?

Max Headroom: Twenty Minutes Into The Future - Oh me, Oh my, it's back, it's back, and I.. I.. I..  ok, I'm ok, I'm back in control.  Saturdays, 5pm.

Hacker's Club - What a pretty bunch of hackers. I just wanna chew up your little web pages. Sugar!

2600's list of Hacked Pages - You hear about it in the news.  They flaunt it. Smile, you're not important enough for them to care about.  There are 351 million web pages up at last count, so don't sweat it.  Protect yourself from little Janey down the street.

Suck - Giggle a lot.

AOL, Hackers, and Time magazine - The owner of this page has declared his own Jihad against America On-Line (AOL).  Do I want to know why?  Not really.
